Welcome to BROCKMAN’S STORE in Vian, Oklahoma
Welcome to a unique getaway in the heart of small-town America.
Located in historic downtown Vian, near beautiful Lake Tenkiller, the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge on the Arkansas River, the Illinois and Canadian River, and the scenic forests and pastures of eastern Oklahoma, BROCKMAN’S STORE offers something truly rare: a historic place where your group can gather, celebrate, relax, and stay together.
Dating back to at least 1904, BROCKMAN’S STORE predates Oklahoma statehood and is believed to be the oldest surviving building in Vian. The historic rock building is documented on Vian’s November 1904 Sanborn fire-insurance map, preserved by the Library of Congress. Its original stone walls and prominent place beside the railroad offer guests a genuine connection to the early history of small-town Oklahoma and the American West.
Guests can enjoy exclusive use of our welcoming historic saloon and private courtyard, together with three comfortable adjoining suites and, when needed, the optional Thornton apartment nearby. It is a special setting where family, friends, colleagues, and travel companions can stay close, spend time together, and create lasting memories.
Whether you are planning a family reunion, homecoming, birthday celebration, baby shower, bachelorette weekend, church gathering, private event, hunting or fishing trip, outdoor adventure, extended work stay, vacation, or an overnight stop along I-40, you will find a warm welcome at BROCKMAN’S STORE.
Spend your days exploring Lake Tenkiller, boating, fishing, hiking, hunting, visiting the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, or discovering the Cherokee Nation and its capital, Tahlequah. In the evening, return to a distinctive and comfortable gathering place where family and friends can eat, talk, celebrate, and simply enjoy being together.
We came from faraway Germany and fell in love with this special corner of Oklahoma: the quiet streets, the friendly people, the surrounding rivers, forests, and pastures, and the Union Pacific freight trains rolling past our historic rock building, bringing with them the unmistakable atmosphere of the Old West.
We are grateful to be part of Vian’s small-town revival, and we are delighted to share this unique place with guests from near and far.
Whatever brings you to eastern Oklahoma — Lake Tenkiller, the rivers, the wildlife, the Cherokee heritage, the open countryside, a family celebration, a work assignment, or a journey along I-40 — BROCKMAN’S STORE is a memorable place to stay, gather, rejoice, and be glad.
Come for the history, the scenery, and the adventure. Stay for the hospitality, the comfort, and the opportunity to enjoy meaningful time together.
Welcome to BROCKMAN’S STORE.
Walter and Barbara Forkel
God bless
